Century Casino and Hotel to Open Earlier Than Expected

The construction of Century Casino and Hotel in Central City, Colorado has gone faster than expected and the 60,000 square foot casino will be opening a month earlier than expected. The casino will be opening on July 10th rather than the original date of early August, according to the company.

The $50 million Century Casino and Hotel will be launching its "soft" opening on July 10 to be followed by a grand celebration that will last for a week by the end of July.

The Century Casino in Central City will be housing 627 slot machines, 12 gaming tables including a separate poker room, and 27 hotel rooms with food and beverage service.

Century Casinos (NASDAQ: CNTY - News) owns 65 percent of the casino, but the company has the option of buying out the minority owner.

Century Casinos is based in Colorado Springs, where it also owns Womacks Casino and Hotel in nearby Cripple Creek. The company is also building another casino in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Other properties owned and operated by Century Casinos include the Caledon Hotel, Spa and Casino near Capetown, South Africa; Monte Vista Casino in Newcastle, South Africa; and the Millennium Casino in Prague, Czech Republic.

2005 saw Century Casinos raking in a net income of $4.5 million, down from $4.7 million a year earlier. But last year's total revenue hit $41.7 million, up from $35.8 million in 2004.
